Let the Games begin!! Year 8 Homework. Design and Technology- Safety in the Workshop.
Health and Safetywithin Design and Technology is a major part of ensuring that students gain experiences and enjoy learning in a controlled and secure environment. Task 1 Consider the department, ( Workshops, Food Tech rooms, PECT Lab. and Graphics Studios) identify the potential hazards that are with in each area. List out actions that can be taken to minimise these risks and make suggestions for the conduct and behaviour that would be appropriate in such an environment to minimise the risk. This could be presented in a table, a poster or another format of your choice. Remember to present your work carefully and in an eye catching and well considered way. For this homework project you have to put your ‘Creative Designer’ head on and come up with a Game that will draw students attention to the potential risks with in the D&T Department.
Task 2 Design and make a Game! Through taking part in your ‘Game’ the player must learn about Health and Safety in Technology! Plan and produce a game for you and your friends to play. Ensure the game is all the things we know a game should be. It would be fine if you decide to work in a project team of 2 for this section of the homework. The game will be played and tested in your technology lessons by you and your friends so ensure it is exciting, well made and fun! Your friends must learn and be reminded about the issues of safety within the Technology department… Have Fun!!! • Games are an engaging, entertaining and fun way to test skills or knowledge of a subject. There are different types of games. • General Knowledge – Trivial Pursuits. Games using questions and answers. • Fine motor skills – Jenga. Games that test your coordination and steady hand! • Statistical knowledge and retention – Top Trumps. Concentration and focus needed for these!
