  1. Vocabulary Group 12 Presented by: Mya Stone, Jennifer Rangel, and Alina Shah

  2. Infest Verb • Definition- Destroy; To be so many that it causes harm. Sentence-The ship’s captain warned us not to go into the waters because they were infested withtoo many sharks.

  3. Noun Debris • 1) Broken remains 2) Rubbish After the tornado passed through town, knocking down tree limbs, and power lines, there was debris, or rubbish, and trash, scattered everywhere.

  4. Verb Exterminate • To kill off • When we found termites in the basement, we called the company to come exterminate, or destroy, them before they did major damage.

  5. Noun Catastrophe • A sudden and widespread disaster. • When the bridge collapsed unexpectedly, injuring and killing the people on it, it was an unexpected catastrophe, or disaster.

  6. Verb corrode • To weaken gradually, or to wear away. • Recent studies have indicated that the new ethanol E85 gasoline could corrode, or ruin, certain types of metal, including gas pumps.

  7. fatality Noun • Death resulting from an accident, or disaster. • In the five-car pileup, there were three fatalities, or deaths; all of the other people survived.

  8. Collide • To crash into, or to clash with (collision) • As a result of their collidingopinions on the topic of politics, they agreed not to discuss the subject so they would not argue about it.

  9. Salvage • To save from destruction. • When the office building burned, nothing was able to be salvaged, or saved; everything was destroyed entirely. Superman and Batman failed.

  10. Breach Noun • An opening, a break, or a temporary gap. • It would be a breachof trust to reveal your best friend’s secrets. You would break that trust.
