  2. Five Pillars (obligation) of Islam • Declaration (testimony) of faith • Performing prayer (Salah) • Fasting during the month of Ramadan • Paying financial obligation (Zakat) • The pilgrimage to Makkah (Hajj)

  3. 2- Performing Prayers • There are five daily prayer times: • Morning, noon, afternoon, evening, night • Prayer times are timed by the sun • The amount of rakat (rounds) for each of the 5 prayers: • Morning – 2 • Noon - 4 • Afternoon - 4 • Evening - 3 • Night – 4 • Friday prayer is made at noon time and together in the mosque

  4. Prepare for Prayer • Cleaning • Personally (your body, clothes.. ) - Wudu • The praying area

  5. Personal Cleaning- Wudu • Wuduis considered a ritual act of worship which is done with the intention of seeking the pleasure of Allah • The Qur'an says: “ O you who believe! When you stand up for ritual prayer, wash your face and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe a part of your head and your feet up to ankles.” (5:6)

  6. Performing Wudu Intention Clean hands

  7. Performing Wudu- sunnet Wash mouth – 3 times Clean nose

  8. Wash face – 3 times Wash arms - 3 times

  9. Wipe your head- 1 time Wash your ear- 1 time (Sunnet)

  10. Wash your right foot – 3 times Wash your left foot – 3 times

  11. Preparing to prayer • Cleaning is also necessary • Clothes (No urine, blood or any other dirty) • The praying area or use praying rug • Covered your necessary parts of body • For man: between the navel and the knees • For women: her entire body except face and palms

  12. Preparing to prayer Praying rug- face to Kabah Pray at proper time

  13. Raise your hands up and say"Allah – Akbar” (God is the greatest) Men Women

  14. Read Fatiha and a Versus from Quran

  15. Bending down-Say “Allah akbar” for transitions Subhanna - Rabbeyal - Azzem "Glorified is my Lord, the most great."

  16. Stand back Samey - Allahu - leman - Hameda Allah hears those who praise Him. O our Lord, and all praise is to you

  17. Go down to floor- Sajdah Subhanna - Rabbeyal - Alla Glorified is my Lord, the most great

  18. Sit down after second rakat Recite- tahiyyat

  19. Terminate the prayer As Salam AlaykumwaRahmatullahi Peace and mercy of Allah be with you

  22. 3-Fasting the month of Ramadan • the fast is an act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a richer perception of God • Fasting is also an exercise in self-control whereby one's sensitivity is heightened to the sufferings of the poor.

  23. 3-Fasting in the Quran • O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may acquire piety (Taqwa). (2:183) • Fast for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g., an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a poor person (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know. (2:184)

Ramadan • Begins with sighting of the new moon • Abstention from eating, drinking and other sensual pleasures is obligatory from dawn to sunset • Muslims • start their fast at dawn with a breakfast, sahur • break their fast at sunset with a special meal, iftar • End of ramadan is observed by 3 days celebration

  26. 4-Paying financial obligation (Zakat) • Social responsibility is considered part of one's service to God; • the obligatory act of zakat enshrines this duty. • Zakatprescribes payment of fixed proportions of a Muslim's possessions for the welfare of the entire community and in particular for its neediest members. • It is equal to 2.5 percent of an individual's total net worth, excluding obligations and family expenses.

  27. 5- The pilgrimage to Makkah (Hajj) • Is a significant manifestation of Islamic faith and unity in the world • Hajj is a once in a lifetime duty for those Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the journey to Makkah • The Hajj is a remarkable spiritual gathering of over two million Muslims from all over the world to theKaba • In performing the Hajj, a pilgrim follows the order of ritual that the Prophet Muhammad performed during his last pilgrimage.
