Najawa: A Story of Palestine" - Art Installation at Burlington Art Hop

The art installation at Burlington Art Hop tells the story of one woman's experience of military occupation and oppression in Palestine over eight decades. The panels showcase different periods of history, highlighting the impact of the conflict on the lives of Palestinians. The installation is a collaboration between Michelle Sayles and Jen Berger, sponsored by Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel. The artwork invites viewers to reflect on the past, present, and future of Palestine.

  1. This is the story told by an installation at the Burlington, Vermont Art Hop – weekend of September 11-13, 2015. The South End Art attracts over 30,000 visitors to artist’s studios and local businesses that become exhibition sites for the more than 500 participating artists.

  2. A series of 8 panels tells one woman’s story of military occupation and oppression over 8 decades. Artwork by Michelle Sayles in collaboration with Jen Berger Sponsored by Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel www.vtjp.org

  12. The Ben & Jerry’s ‘free’ ice cream truck located across the street from the ‘comic strip’ art installation. Ben & Jerry’s is targeted for boycott, because ice cream made by its Israeli franchise is sold in illegal settlements in Palestine.
