Propagating Ferns from Spores • Materials Needed • Jiffy 7 Peat Pellet • Plastic Petri Dish • Clear Plastic Cup • Distilled Water • Chlorine Bleach • Eye Dropper • Mixing Vial • Fern with Spores
Preparing Peat Pellets Place Peat Pellets in Plastic Container Add Distilled Water Ready To Use
Spores Begin to Grow Dribble water on to peat plug to maintain moisture and assist in fertilization of the embryos. In A few weeks spores will begin to grow.
Fern Spore Propagation Growth after 6 weeks. Fronds begin to appear in about 3 months.
Fern Plants Ready to Transplant 11 months after sowing
Carefully Remove Plants Use Needle Probe to Loosen Roots Ready to Transplant Be Careful to Avoid Plant Damage
