Right Up Transition Options: • We will have F1 come across higher depending on our weekend opponent The drill starts out of opposite corner on the whistle
TIMING: • Warm-Up (2nd or 3rd Drill of practice) • Use any week to emphasis D jumping and Team playing fast • KEYS: • Defensemen: • Under handle pucks • Edges • Firm quick ups • Joining Rush • Forwards: • Using body to protect puck • Area Chips (playing fast with touch) • Puck support • Net drive • Goalies: • Goalie set feet and then re-gap off pass • Compete for 2nd and 3rd chances • *Video
Use the Net 2v1 • Coach chips the puck to D1 • F3 forechecksD1 on either side of the net • D1 needs to make the read and can come out either side of the net to break pressure • If F3 gets the puck stop drill and start over • D1 make outlet to F1 or F2 and then regroups with D2 and then attacks 2 on 1
Use the Net 2v1 Out of the other end: • After D2 transitions F1 and F2, he retreats and gets puck from Coach and F6 forechecks The drill is continuous
TIMING: -Rush (3rd or 4th Drill of Practice) - For Teams with good backside pressure or that will chase on FC • KEYS: • Defensemen: • Shoulder checks and head up • Open up hips and explosiveness(take a few strides after outlet/ gets up in offensive but also helps re-gap) • Outlets under pressure • Efficient feet on 2 on 1 (get on edges) • Stick position (passing lane) • Clear pucks East/West net front • Forwards: • Open up, face puck • Offensive Habits (Shot/Shot off pad/ Pass for quick shot) • Net drive and 2nd opportunities • Sticks on ice and stop at net • Goalies: • Rebound Control • Reading Rush • *Video
