Classification of Inmates • Sentenced Prisoner • Are those convicted by final judgement of the crimes in which they were charged • Detention Prisoner • Are those who are detained for the violation of law or ordinance and have not been convicted • Persons held for investigation or safekeeping
Classification of Sentenced Prisoner • Prisoner • A person who is sentenced to serve a prison term of over 3 years or to pay a fine of more than P1,000.00 or both fine and imprisonment • Provincial Prisoner • A person who is sentenced to serve imprisonment for not more than 3 years or to pay a fine of not more than P1,000.00 • Municipal Prisoner • A person who is sentenced to serve imprisonment for not more than 6 months
Degree of Custody of Prisoners • Super Security Prisoner • Incorrigible, intractable, and dangerous persons who are difficult to manage that are source of constant disturbance even in maximum security institution • Maximum Security Prisoner • Chronic trouble makers but not as dangerous as super security prisoner • Medium Security Prisoner • Who may be allowed to work outside the fence of the institution under guard escorts • Minimum Security Prisoner • Trusted to report to their places of work assignments without the presence of guards
Admission Procedures in Prison • Receiving • Checking commitment paper • Establishing identity of prisoner • Searching the prisoner • Assignment to quarters
Quarantine Unit or Cell • Section of the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC) where the prisoners are given thorough physical examination including blood test, x-rays, inoculation, vaccination for the purpose of insuring that the prisoner is not suffering from any contagious disease which might be transferred to other prisoners.
