  3. About 450 million years ago a meteorite hit the place where Hiiumaa now lies • Hiiumaa arose from the sea soon after the last ice age • As a result we have many artesian wells

  4. Artesian wells • An artesian well is a well, where water comes to surface naturally • The water comes from about 5-20 meters under the ground • There are about 40 boreholes and many natural springs

  7. How can you save water? Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Repair all your leaking taps. Take a shower instead of a bath.

  8. Keep your drinking water in the refrigerator instead of letting the facet run until the water is cool • Wash only full loads of laundry of use the appropriate water level or load size selection on the washing machine • Buy high-efficient plumbing and appliances
