Goal 1: Assure that the agency’s work scope includes all recreational boaters in the state. Strategies Addressed • Strategy 1.1 (Phase I) • Review OSMB’s mission and vision to ensure they accurately reflect current and future needs of the entire boating community of Oregon. • Phase II • Consider modifying the agency’s name and logo to reflect its current and future activities. Develop one or more proposed mission and vision statements to present to the Board for consideration and adoption. • Determine whether current agency name & logo is consistent with the existing and proposed new mission/vision statement. If not, hire image/graphic consultant to develop options to present to agency employees and the Board. Current Agency Vision Statement: • “The Oregon State Marine Board serves Oregon boaters by carefully using boater fees to create quality boating access, marine law enforcement and safety and environmental education. We strive to provide excellent customer service, to leverage facility funds, to partner broadly and to provide economic benefits in urban and rural communities statewide. Advisors recommend proceeding with both logo and name change. • Logo and name both fit the proposed mission and vision however an updated logo and name are thought to be more inclusive to all recreational boaters. • Advisors recommend not forgetting the past of a successful agency when considering new name and logo but bridging the perceived gap between user groups. • Recommend proceeding forward with exploring name and logo change.
