  14. Posting your theory • Take your theories of action and write each step on individual cards. • Post them on the wall.

  15. Getting wiser about data • Our assumptions • Our learning DataWise process: Boudett, City, & Murnane

  16. Critical friends… • Look for anything missing. Make a suggestion. • Teams look at suggestions and adjust as necessary.

  17. Probing questions… • Help presenter focus on his/her wisdom, especially as it relates to the connections to student learning • Do not: give advice, offer suggestions, pass buck, place blame, or tell your story • Elicit a slow, reflective response • Move thinking from reaction to reflection

  18. Facilitation matters! Think of a time you participated in a well-facilitated group process that fostered your interest in engaging in collegial work…what did it feel like? What did the facilitator do to foster your engagement? Process: in triads… • One person tell story (3-5 minutes) • One person is the active listener/prober (1 minute) • One person takes notes…listens for key words/phrases • Switch roles…repeat process until all have told stories
