  2. The pick ups • The pick ups in a guitar pick up on the sound waves produced by strumming the strings are made into electronic waves of energy that the pick ups catch.

  3. Amplifiers • The amplifier that the electric guitar should be plugged up to gets the waves of energy that the pick ups get from the strings Is then amplified to how ever loud you need too hear it or a variety of different sounds .

  4. Different pick ups • Different kids of pick ups make a lot of different sounds like semore Duncan and EMG give you clean distortion mainly wile pick ups like humbuckers give you a clean open sound.

  5. How sound waves work. • Sound waves exist as variations of pressure in a medium such as air. They are created by the vibration of an object, which causes the air surrounding it to vibrate. The vibrating air then causes the human eardrum to vibrate, which the brain interprets as sound.

  6. How amplifiers work • When people refer to "amplifiers," they're usually talking about stereo components or musical equipment. But this is only a small representation of the spectrum of audio amplifiers. There are actually amplifiers all around us. You'll find them in televisions, computers, portable CD players and most other devices that use a speaker to produce sound.

How a guitar mainly works • Some electric guitars have a hollow or semi-hollow body with the resonating cavity found in an acoustic guitar, but the most popular electric guitars have solid bodies. The sound is produced by magnetic pickups and controlled by several knobs. If you pluck a string on an electric guitar that is not plugged in, the sound is barely audible. Without a soundboard and a hollow body, there is nothing to amplify the string's vibrations.
