NEED TO GET FUNDING, SO NEED TO WRITE A GRANT… Where to start?? Basic Questions: • 1. Find out what kind of funding fits your career level and proposal idea: • Am I eligible to write a Career Development Award(K series)? • Can I submit a Research Grant proposal (R awards)? • Is there an RFA available? • 2. Find out which funding is available at this time and the DEADLINES: • Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to flush out the experimental • design, to get the supporting information about key personnel, for peer • review, and potential time needed for material from mentors. • Factor in time for figuring out budget details with administrative help. • Factor in time for appropriate signatures on forms prior to submission (how does this work now that submission is electronic??)
