Ericsson Research Canada March 18, 2003 Jon.Maloy@Ericsson.com FACT/XML on TIPC
Background • Ericsson has built a functional prototype of FACT using XML over a reliable transport protocol: TIPC • TIPC will be included in the Carrier-Grade Linux 2.0 release and is available as open source under GPL: http://tipc.sourceforge.net • One purpose was to investigate if XML is a suitable encoding language for ForCES. • Another purpose was to demonstrate the feasibility of TIPC as a base protocol for ForCES both during pre-association and post-association phases.
TIPC • Logical addressing scheme providing full location transparency • Subscription of availability/non-availability of services/nodes • Agile Connections • Easily Portable • Runs on different interconnect technologies: Raw Ethernet, ATM/AAL5,PCI,UDP,TCP,SCTP…..
