About TED TED: • Conference founded in 1984 for Technology, Entertainment, and Design • is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. • TED Conference annually in Long Beach and Palm Springs • TEDGlobal conference in Oxford, UK each summer • has award-winning TEDTalks video site, Open Translation Project and Open TV www.ted.com TEDx: • TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together, with the aim to learn, share and discuss Ideas Worth Spreading.
TEDxYouth Day For Hong Kong • Hong Kong is participating in a global TEDxYouth Day event, held on November 20, 2010 -- Universal Children's Day • TEDxYouth Day brings together Hong Kong’s grassroots and prominent 'thinkers and doers’; with an amazing lineup of speakers, novel performances, experiential workshops and students sharing ideas that inspire curiosity, ignite new ideas, and empower young leaders. • Target audience : age 15 – 25 • TEDxYouth Day will live stream its talks on its website: http://www.tedxhongkong.com/youth-day
TEDxYouth Day’s Goals: • Inspire local youth with interesting and meaningful career paths • Mobilize youth to contribute to the local and global community • Connect different communities within Hong Kong • Become a reputable annual event in Hong Kong • Attract 400+ attendees • Showcase a range of programs that are unique, fun and thought-provoking

TEDxYouth Day Schedule: November 20, 2010 (a one day event) TARGET AUDIENCE: • Age: 15-22yrs • Background: primarily local students, university students, and other youth OVERARCHING THEME: DARE TO DREAM • 9:00 - 09:45 Registration • 09:45 – 11:15 Session 1: Dream & Creation • 11:15 – 11:45 Break : workshops outdoors • 11:45 – 13:00 Session 2: Passion & Perseverance • 13:00 – 14:10 Lunch Break : Live performances/workshops outdoors • 14:10 – 15:30 Session 3 – Connecting The World Inside Out • 15:30 – 16:00 Break: Live performances • 16:00 – 17:00 Session 4 – There Is No Box

Invitation to Present Help Share Your Story Help inspire youth by sharing how you found, pursued, and developed your projects or career. Some Questions to Keep in Mind: • What is your background? • Why is this issue of particular interest to you? • Did you switch into this project/profession? If yes, then where did you come from and what was your turning point? • What exactly do you do and how do you do it? • What are the influences of your work (i.e. on the environment, or in a community), on a micro and macro scale? • Are you being too serious? Try to relax and be funny too!
