  1. Opportunity for a Unique Population The 1st Year Experience for EOP Students

Educational Opportunities Program (EOP) • Provides support to economically and educationally disadvantaged students who want to attend college. • New York State residents • Diverse population • Over 650 EOP students, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels • Supports a range of services to help students who need assistance in academic, financial, social and personal matters. • Tutoring • Academic Counseling – all four years • Mandatory, five-week Pre-College Summer Residential Program - average attendance - 150 students.

Library Involvement • Summer Program • EOP-liaison librarian teaches 3-4 different information modules • Evaluating resources • Tour of the University Library • Introduction to the Libraries’ catalog and a research database • During the academic year • Conducts IL classes for same students • What’s in a Word • Writers’ Thoughts on Writing • Other topic-based information literacy sessions. • Other support for the program includes • Weekly office hours in the EOP Complex Computing Center • One-on-one referralsmediated searching • Outreach efforts through EOP listservs
