What is a Review paper? • Summarizes the current state of knowledge of the topic. • It creates an understanding of the topic for the reader by discussing the findings presented in recent research papers. • it is not a "term paper" or book report. • Synthesizes the results from several primary literature papers to produce a coherent argument about a topic or focused description of a field. • Provides the evidence for a particular point of view in a field. • The emphasis: interpreting the primary literature on the subject.

  3. What is a literature review? • A literature review is a survey of scholarly sources that provides an overview of a particular topic. It generally follows a discussion of the paper’s thesis statement or the study’s goals or purpose.

It present the authors unique Investigation of a spesific research question What is it based on? It is based on original research that has been conducted by the paper’s authors. This is known as a primary literature How is it written? The authors formulate a research question, collect raw data and conduct an original study The research paper is then written based on an analysis and interpretation of this data What is its purpose? To critically analyse previously published literature on a specific topic What is it based on? It is based on existing published articles: it doesn’t report any original research. This is known as a secondary literature How is it written? This is includes an abstract, the hypothesis, background study, methodology, results and an interpretation of the findings It also includes a discussion of the possible implication of the results, of how the study contributes to existing literature and suggestions for further research How long should it be? Usually ranges between 3000 to 6000 words. For some journals the word limit might even go up to 12000 What does it report? It identities & reports commonalities between the results of the chosen studies. If there are discrepancies then the authors try to provide reasons for conflicting results. With balanced perspective, the authors analysis available information from published work and report any problems with or gaps within the existing literature How long should it be? Usually ranges between 3000 and 5000 words.   6. The Purpose Of Writing References • To avoid plagiarism One of the functions of quotations is to strengthen or support your scientific writing. Therefore, you should state the source of your citation briefly at the end after the citation sentence or just before the citation sentence (closest to the citation sentence) and write the source completely in the bibliography; • Appreciate the previous writer that the text in that section is from the ideas, arguments, or analysis of others; • Helping readers who want to know more about the source of the quote. Your article readers can browse information from citation sources and then get their full details in the bibliography

The kind of reference • APA Style APA style citation writing provided by the American Psychological Association, this type of writing style is commonly used in any field. • Psychology Cognitive Sciences which includes, Philosophy, Neuroscience, linguistics, anthropology, Artificial Intelligence. • Social Sciences which also includes Accounting, economics, geography, law, education, politics, history and sociology.

  8. The kind of reference • MLA Style Modern Language Association citation writing is made very simple and quite easy when compared to other bibliography writing styles. The MLA style is commonly used in citations and bibliography in the fields of: • Art • Language and Literature • Humanities covering the fields of religion, Pancasila and citizenship (citizenship), basic social sciences, basic natural sciences and basic cultural sciences

  9. The kind of reference • AMA Style AMA referencing style was designed by the American Medical Association specifically for use in their publications. The style is now widely used and has a number of variations for different universities and publications

  10. What is things need to be considered when conducting a review paper?? Read the reference section and try searching for the following information: • What references are used uptodate (recent years)? Or is the paper used as a reference too long? • If you are interested in doing research on an adjacent theme, note the important papers or books listed in the reference section of the paper.
