  1. Features of the Goan farming landscape -1 Flat and fertile, every suitable piece of land is used for farming. Rice is by far the dominant crop.

  2. Features of the farming landscape - 2 The typical patchwork pattern of paddy (or padi) fields, separated by low mud walls, known as bunds in India.

  3. Features of the farming landscape - 3 One of the busiest times on the land is when the rice seedlings are transplanted from the nurseries into the paddy fields. In most areas much of the work is still done by hand, with basic tools.
