  2. TWU Teaching at a Distance • 1911 – CIA offered extension courses to women in rural areas. • 1913 – CIA traveled via railcar to deliver instruction across the State of Texas. Thompson, J. (1982). Marking a Trail: A History of Texas Woman’s University.

  3. 1994 – TWU was one of the first institutions in Texas to electronically deliver full degree programs (MLS and MS in Speech-Language Pathology). • 1999 – TWU offered the first distance education doctoral program in the State (PhD in Nursing Science).
