Background • Situated in south-east Asia and Border with Thailand (more than 800 km), Lao PDR, and Vietnam • Population 13,958,000, women account for 51.4% (census in 2010) • Real GDP growth rate 6.9% (2011) • More than 80% are doing in agriculture sector • Working age population 8,853,000 (2010) • Labor force 7,702,000 (2010) • Young labor force in the ASEAN community • 20.000 to 30.000 join labor market annually • 80.000 to 90.000 drop out of school
Country level Overview • Objective : . Better improve Labor Migration Management in Cambodia • Strategies : . Develop methodology for trainers . Develop curriculum for migrant workers . Develop training program for focal points Practically, IOM provides assistant to develop Migrant Pre-Departure Orientation Manual
Activities • Establish technical working group • Draft curriculum • Organize a consultation workshop (tri-parties including OIs and NGOs)_ a common standard draft • Awareness raising for relevant stakeholders • Set up a core trainers group (MoLVT, inter-ministerial, NGOs, employers, and trade union)
