  1. Is America living up the Ideals of the Declaration of Independence? Notes Due: Tuesday, September 7 in your English Class Final Paper will be completed by Friday, September 10 in your English Class.

  2. Consider the following: • How do we deal with racial issues? Are we consistent on how we handle it? Do some people feel inferior (lesser) then other people? • Consider how African Americans were treated in 1776 to how their rights have changed for today? • How did the events around 911 affect the liberties that we have today? Think about how safe you feel and if you feel free to do as you wish. • Look at the various religions we have in this country. Does each feel free to worship where they wish?

  3. Other issues to look at: • Do we have a fair election process? Are we permitted to choose the candidates that we want? • Can all people in the United States attend a college? • If you don’t like the way something in government is being run, are you permitted to speak out against it? • Are you allowed to pursue your dreams? Do you have the opportunity to get to where you want to go in life?

  4. Hook • How can anyone doubt how fortunate I am in being an American? Look at all that I possess and then to have the ability to gain even more. No one stands in my way to success except for the person I see in the mirror each morning. I can promise any American that there is no better country then the good ol’ USA because of the groundwork our forefathers did with the Declaration of Independence.
