  1. Lan (local area network) By Paolo 10DD

  2. Advantages and disadvantages of a LAN Disadvantages The power must be on at all times to make the Lan work efficiently. Security isn't always 100% ensured. May take a while to set up. Upkeep is hard to maintain on a regular basis. Advantages • Easy to share devices. • Data sharing is easy and with fast performance. • The cost of creating a local area network is low. • Creating a complex network might give the user a lot of experience.

  3. Cabled LAN Cabled LAN is a wired local area network that requires an Ethernet cable to run. There are three types of cables. Optical fiber cables. Patch cable. Coaxial cables.

  4. Hardware essential for LAN A HUB switch to connect a range of computers. A router to distribute internet connection to the computers. A network interface card. A form of Cabling.

  5. LAN topologies Network topologies are a layout in the form of a patter or shape that interconnects the computers in a network. The layout consists of a single source, which is linked to a range of computers and some peripherals. There are various types and structures.

  6. Types of Topology Star topology consists of a single source I the middle and 5 computers connected to it. The bus topology is in the layout of a bus station map. The main source being at one side (like the main station). Another complex topology is the mesh topology that interconnects a number of computers and peripherals.
