Objectives: • Identify stages in the design of online environment. • Explain Interactive Design • Describe the designer, user and system interacting model. • Explain Website Interactive project Criteriaand Resources for Website development • Demonstrate how to plan and develop a website Questions and Answers
Stages in the Design of Online Learning Environments: • Stage 1: Identify the learning needs of your target population. • Stage 2: Define the theoretical approach you will use to design the learning materials. • Stage 3: Select the content:
Stages in the Design of Online Learning Environments: • Stage 4: Organize the learning content to meet the needs of your target population. • Stage 5: Select the final design. • Stage 6: Develop instructional materials. • Stage 7: Evaluate and revise.
Interactive Design • Interactive Design – is about creating user experience that enhance and augment the people work, communicate and interact . • User Experience – is how a product behaves and used by people in the real world. It is about “how people feel about a product and their pleasure and satisfaction when using it Sharp et al (2007).
Usability Goals • Effectiveness – refers to the very general goal and refers how good a product is • Efficiency - refers to the way a product supports users in carrying out their tasks. • Safety – involves protecting the users from dangerous conditions and undesirable situations
Usability Goals • Utility- refers to the extent to which products provides the right kind of functionality • Learnability – refers to how easy a system is to learn to use • Memorability – refers to how easy a product is to remember how to use, once learn
Designer, User, and System interacting model • Designer model –the model the designer has of how the system should work • The system image – how the system actually works is portrayed to the user. • The user’s model – how the user understand how the system works
