Transparency International India: Important Landmarks Established in 1997 as accredited national chapter of TI, Berlin, currently having 9 state chapters with 400 plus eminent Indian individuals as members Started Integrity Pact advocacy in 2001, signed 1st IP with ONGC in Dec, 2005 & reached 39 PSUs by Dec, 09 Done national level study on corruption for the first time as ‘India Corruption Study’ in 2005 & 2008 Started direct rural awareness programme for improving governance named Pahal:ShaasanSudhaarKi Ore in 2007, currently working in 4 states, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand & Bihar Started advocating for political accountability through Development Pacts in 2008

Pahal(Improving Governance in Rural Areas) TII started the programme for improving governance and awareness in rural areas, Pahal : ShaasanSudhaarKi Ore in 2007 Currently working in 4 states, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand & Bihar More than 2000 rural families directly benefited from the initiative, while hundreds of common causes were taken up using good governance tools TII plans to take Pahal to new states of MP, Rajasthan, UP & Uttaranchal as well in future
