Define Outreach • Evangelism • Community • Poor and In Need • Children and Widows
Evangelism I Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect Romans 10:14-15 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Community Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Poor and In Need Matthew 25:35-40 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Children and Widows Luke 18:16-17 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Observations • We are super friendly. • There is a desire to do outreach. • One size activity/event does not fit all. • We are great at putting on events but need the emphasis on why we are having an event.
Outreach Mission & Values Mission Go. Make. Equip. Values Compassion, love, purposed, natural, compelled, service, fellowship
Goals • Create a ministry which belongs to the members by assisting them to carry out the great commission by providing resources and opportunities to share Christ and save souls. • Equip our members with education, teaching, training, tools and opportunities to share the gospel. • Develop the ministry to allow people to participate as a natural outpouring of their love for Christ and His church. • Tell our story at Bartlett Woods so others can see how God is working through His people here and plant a desire in them to want to be a part of His church. • Discuss ways to be involved with new members early to provide them paths of participation to become involved.
Focus Focusing on people we have a connection with to save souls is key. We must also focus on those of our community. Family Friends Neighbors & Co-workers Our Community
Focus on 901 Our primary focus is within the 901 area code
