  1. The greatest tragedy of Science is the death of a beautiful idea by an ugly FACT! Huxley

  2. NEAC: NATIONAL EDDUCATION APPLICATIONS CENTER Instructional Modules Biology Ecology Chemistry Medicine Physics Microbiology Visualization - Modeling Botany Geology

  3. Educator Admin Interface NEAC SW, Modules, Compute Resources, Expertise Students (At Home) Users Interface Non-Traditional Students (At Work) Students (In Class/Lab)

  4. Applications Hosting: Proprietary SW Customized Open-Source Applications Rare, but useful SW for Education Services/Servers not competing with national research interests for compute time Mentors program for educator users

  5. Appropriate applications selection and evaluation provided to the educator Clearinghouse for concept-focused instructional modules with integration of computational tools Educators can create and deposit new modules or utilize the library of modules Facilitate potential collaborations between computational researchers seeking “educational” relevance and educators.

  6. Coordinate compute resource scheduling to ensure compute cycles are available for or dedicated to specific courses Alleviates the educator of the task of administering software Provide test-bed for new instructional approaches requiring computational resources not necessarily available at host institutions Facilitate peer-to-peer interactions: interactive experiments and communications that cross spatial and temporal boundaries, e.g. group learning environments between students at geographically disparate schools
