SpaceTree

SpaceTree is an advanced interactive visualization tool for traditional node-link tree diagrams. It offers dynamic rescaling of branches to optimize screen space, preview icons summarizing hidden branches, smooth animations, and integrated search functions. A user study showed high subjective preference for SpaceTree over alternatives, highlighting its efficiency and ease of use. Key findings emphasized the benefits of preview icons and consistent layout in improving node-link tree browsing experience. Developed by Jesse Grosjean, Catherine Plaisant, and Ben Bederson at the University of Maryland's Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory. For more information, visit www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/spacetree/.
