Platform suggestions • We will be using Angularjs as javascript framework and bootstrap for designing. • For backend and admin panel we have multiple choice. We can either go for a existing CMS like wordpress that can handle specific types of requirements very easily or use Laravel framework which will consume more time but ia more robust. (Comparison on next page)
Comparison CMS pros and cons • CMS provide general functionalities out of the box e.g. SEO, chatting, blogs with ready made admin panel functionalities for every plugin. • CMS plugins are created keeping that in mind that everyday person can learn to manage them without professional help. • Since CMS are created in specific way to support market plugins and theme they do not follow professional design patterns for development e.g. MVC. In this case one has to heavily rely on available plugin in store. E.g. some of the plugins used by reference • https://wordpress.org/plugins/portfolio-filter-gallery/ (portfolio) • https://wordpress.org/plugins/intercom/ (chat) • For hiring • https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-job-board/ • https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-job-manager/ • Blogging is already supported by Wordpress • As plugins are developed by third party they can sometime clash with each other due to either naming convention or by the order in which they run.
Comparison Framework pros and cons • No restrictions of architecture. Any requirement can be broken down easily and implemented without the need for third party tools • Since everything is custom you will have greater flexibility and control over its modification. It will be easier to manage components and optimize them if needed. • Headless architecture in frameworks allow for a front end agnostic backend. This means a web site built on framework can easily be extended to support mobile apps later. Additionally, you will be able to change the layout for a website in future and backend will not be effected in this process. • Since everything is created from scratch development takes a lot of time. • Not all host providers take frameworks into consideration and sometimes complications can occur. • Admin panel is an additional requirement for every requirement that you need for public interface. In order to have CMS like flexibility (so that your client can manage website by themselves) one will need double amount of time to do the project.
