  1. Štítnik Štítnik is a village and municipality in the Rožňava district in the Košice region of middle-eastern Slovakia.

  3. History In historical records the villagewas first mentioned in 1243 by King Bela IV of Hungary. Historical discoveries have proved that the origin of this settlement dates back to the earlier part of the Middle Ages, the 12th century. The town belonged to the owners of Gemer Castle.

  4. História V historických dokumentoch Štítnik sa prvý krát spomína v dokumente Kráľa Belu IV Uhorského. Historický výskum potvrdil, že pôvodné osadentsvo oblasti sa datuje až do stredoveku, do 12.storočia. Mesto patrilo majiteľovi Hradu Gemer.

  5. Geography The village lies at an altitude of 345 metres and covers an area of 34.544 km². It has a population of about 1485 people. The village is situated in the historical region of Gemer. It is located about 14 kilometers from Rožňava

  6. Geografia Dedina leží v nadmorskej výške 345 metrov nad morom, a oblasť sa rozprestiera na rozlohe 34,544km2. Počet obyvateľov je okolo 1485. Dedina sa nachádza v historickej oblasti známej ako Gemer, 14 km od Rožňavy.

  7. Culture The village has a public library, a historical grammar school and a football pitch. There is also an “Aqua Castle” which was built between the 1300 and 1400.

  8. Kultúra V dedine sa nachádza verejná knižnica, všeobecná škola a futbalové ihrisko. Je tu tiež „vodný hrad“, ktorý bol postavený medzi rokmi 1300-1400.

  9. There is a Gothic evangelical church, built in the 14th century, housing the oldest organ in Central Europe, constructed in 1491. There is a Renaissance altar inside from 1636.

  10. Je tu Gotický evanjelický kostol, postavený v 14.storočí, v ktorom je najstarší orgán v Strednej Európe, skonštruovaný v roku 1491. Vo vnútri sa nachádza renesančný oltár z roku 1636.

  11. In Štítnik there is a possibility to ride a horse in a nearby ranch. Come and try by yourself…
