  5. Who are the older drinkers • The early onset drinker or survivor; • Late onset drinkers or reactors; • Intermittent or binge drinkers.

  6. Evidence • More older people are reporting drinking at increasing risk levels; • Increasing risk means more than recommended guidelines; • Increasing risk leads to higher risk of high blood pressure, liver problems, some cancers, falls, accidents, cognitive impairment.

  7. East Sussex Community Alcohol Team • Full range of services from first point of contact for advice and information; • Talking therapies (1:1, groups); • Medical assessment for community, home, in-patient detox and residential rehab. • Specific services for carers too.

  8. Our impact • April – September 2012, 626 adults in treatment or have received treatment; • Over 60% successfully complete treatment.

  9. Where can you find us • Hastings and Rother • St. Leonards (4 venues), Hastings (2 venues), Battle, Bexhill (2 venues), Rye – all open access. • Appointment clinics (5 in Bexhill, 1 in Battle, 1 in Hastings). • Conquest Hospital.
