  2. Ingredients (for 1 scoop serving) • 1 gallon size ziploc bag • 1 quart or sandwich size ziploc bag • ½ cup of milk (skim for healthiest version) • 1 tablespoon of sugar • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract • 4 cups of ice • 6 tablespoons of salt • Tape (masking tape works best) All of the ingredients above can be found at a local supermarket, Target, Walmart, and even most drugstores and Wawas/7Elevens.

  3. Cost Per Serving • If one does not have any ziploc bags, they are sold for about 7 cents per bag. (cost per bag, out of a box) • Milk is around 3-4 dollars per gallon • For a 2 oz bottle of vanilla extract at Target: around 3 dollars • Morton salt at Target: 72cents • Bag of Ice: 1-2 dollars • Sugar: around 2 dollars The ingredients needed for bagged ice cream are mostly things around the house and some around the dorm room, making this snack extremely inexpensive. Estimated cost for class: $30 Per person: $1.50

  4. Instructions • Take quart/sandwich size ziploc and add ½ cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. • Seal and tap bag across top. • Take gallon size ziploc, add 4 cups of ice and six tablespoons of salt. • Place quart/sandwich size bag inside gallon size bag, seal top. • Begin shaking. • Once the ice cream begins to look thick (consistency is up to consumer) the ice cream is ready. • Unzip bag, remove smaller bag, cut top and enjoy!

  5. Dorm Room Instructions • Take sandwich size bag and added 10 plastic spoons of sugar, a plastic spoon of vanilla extract, and a cup of milk. • Take gallon size bag and add six cups of ice (using plastic cup) • Seal, removing as much air as possible, place small bag inside big, and begin to shake. • Once texture is how you want it, enjoy!

  6. Equipment/Challenges • ½ cup measuring cup (or Tupperware with measuring) • Tablespoon and teaspoon measuring device (or plastic ware) • Gloves/Towel if one has a tendency for cold hands quickly. • The only challenge that could be presented is extremely cold hands.

  7. Why should YOU do this? Why is it better than Breyers and Edys? • Homemade ice cream is an easy and fun snack to make • Healthier than regular ice cream (especially if skim milk is used) • It’s a cheap dorm room snack • Different variations can be made: • Added chocolate syrup • You can make it how YOU want it

  8. Where Did We Come Up with this Idea? • Something fun • Cheap • Hands on
