Study Strategies • Know the theories, terms, definitions, concepts, tools, and techniques from the ASTD perspective • Complete the drill and practice questions at the end of each chapter in the ASTD Learning System • Know why answers are right or wrong
Prior to the Test • Know how to find the testing facility • Confirm directions • Do a test drive • Calculate travel time • Allow time for traffic accidents and congestion • Find out if there is parking nearby
Test-Taking Tips • READ each question slowly and carefully TWICE before answering. • Eliminate answers that are obviously distracters. • Always answer the question from the ASTD perspective. • Watch for statements that are true, but are not the best answer for the question being asked.

Test-Taking Tips • Watch for answers on the test that provide hints for other questions’ answers. • Be careful to select the answer you meant to select. • Keep your first answer unless you are certain you made a mistake. • Don’t agonize. Mark your answer and move on.
Test-Taking Tips • Use all allotted time. • Check your pace every 30 minutes • You should complete a question every minute • Get plenty of rest the night before the test. • Eat a nutritious meal before the test. • Tend to mother nature’s needs prior to entering the testing facility. The clock keeps ticking if you leave the room.
Exam Day Checklist • Bring to the testing center • Two forms of identification • A copy of the test registration confirmation email that includes the test Taker Authorization Code • A pencil or pen (scratch paper is provided) • Plan to arrive 20 minutes early • Do not bring purses, backpacks, briefcases, etc.
