Assurance of quality (Accreditation) • SANAS (South Africa National Accreditation System) • Responsibilities • Evaluation of technical competence • Implement MLA for international recognition • Facilitate trade by removal of TBT’s • Acknowledge stakeholder input
Regulatory • Dept’s Labour, Health, Trade & Industry, DME, Agriculture etc • Responsibilities • Implement requirements where public well being at risk • eg Weights & Measures, Hospitals etc • SABS Legal Metrology have been appointed to act in place of government department
