  1. The Importance of Teaching Children Basic Life Skills Mario Booker

  2. Mario Booker is a successful middle school educator in Chicago who spends his free time helping at-risk youth with academics and life skill development. The children that he works with don’t naturally know how to make good choices in their lives. The skills he is teaching help those children know what they need to do in everyday situations and how to make good decisions in their lives.

  3. Life skills are everything from deciding what to wear to choosing friends. Good decision making is a key life skill that is learned through repetition and practice. Helping your child develop good life skills will allow your child to make it through the turbulent years of their adolescence and help them to keep clear of irresponsible decisions through the rest of their lives.

  4. You can start teaching your child good life skills when they are as young as three years of age. Begin by providing them with simple either/or choices that will help them to practice their decision-making skills. Use your daily activities, like grocery shopping, to teach them the importance of nutrition. Teach them about managing money by opening a bank account and talk to your teenagers about responsible credit card use. It is important that you talk openly with your child about poor choices and the impact they can have on their life.

  5. Working with your children during their younger years will provide them with more opportunity to practice these skills as they get older. Mario Booker is dedicated to helping at-risk youths develop the necessary life skills to succeed both academically and in life.
