St. Rita School Mission St. Rita School inspires students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled Catholic environment. We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today's technology-guided global community, live and share the love of Christ.

Developing a Lifelong Habit of Kindness • Talk with your child about the importance of kindness • Provide opportunities for your child to practice caring for others • Encourage your child to consider the perspective and struggles of others • Read books with your child on the virtue of kindness • Model compassion and positive behavior/interaction • Be inclusive not exclusive • Stop gossiping or spreading negativity • Give back to the community • Teach your child to make amends and apologize not by saying “Sorry” but by saying “I am sorry that…..”

Summer Projects • Completing the Playground fencing, signage and landscaping • Interior painting-hallways and classroom • Began the classroom floor replacement project • Security updates-cameras and replacement of aftercare doorbell system (in progress) • Small building projects and A/C maintenance

Reminders • Weekly Newsletter –every Tuesday • School Website-all important information • Parking-Drop-Off / Pick-up • Cross at cross walks only • Park only in designated areas on side streets or down at church • Morning drop off must be quick • Park in designated visitors spots only • Parking lot roped off from 2:30-3:00 • Hamden residents are urged to use the bus (tax $) • Need to sign-up for lunch and milk programs • Addressing Student Concerns-start with your child’s teacher • Always monitor your child’s technology use
Use of Social Media • Teach you child to treat others with respect & kindness at all times including on-line • Encourage and model good on-line behavior • Your child’s digital footprint does not go away • Learn about your child’s on-line social life • Limit your child’s access to technology-take their device away at bedtime or before • Report any cyber-bullying to the other parent immediately or police if warranted • Set strict parental controls on devices • Notify school administration if the situation does not get resolved after contacting the parents or police and has the potential to impact your child’s safety and wellbeing while at school .
