Background ESF: 5.742 applications (oct-11) for the period 07-13 Of these 57 came from trade unions = 1 pct Of all applications 37% whereapproved Of tradeunonapplications 29% whereapproved Of all trade union applications (57) 21 came from IFMetall (Industrial and Metalworker´strade union)
AIM The working group shall suggest an action plan for Runö regarding EU- financialissues in order to fulfill the needs of support for the LO Trade Unions to carryouttheir tasks of increasedEU-funding.

Objectives by the end of 2015 The LO Trade Unons are usingEU-funding for theirdevelopmentprojects Via Runö theyhaveknowledgeaboutfunding, times for applications etc. Theyhave the wholepicture. Practisingsmothroutines, affectingroutines Runö is positioned as the supportivefunction for the LO trade unions in EU- financialissues of this kind.

Activitiesduring 2013 Training for Project Leaders To complete the project bank Further Trade Union contact work to get a respondent in eachtrade union Furthercontacts with ESF/Regional funds and ETUI regardingcalls for applications.
Administration of Projects 2013 Administrative support LO is investigating the distribution of responsibilitiesbetween ABF (Worker´sEducation Association) and Runö regarding administrative support. This will (hopefully) be clearifiedduring the winter 2013.
EU-funding and liberal education 2013 The Folk High Schools and the trade unions One, Medlefors, is excellent in EU-fundedprojects and in cooperation with regional trade unions and ABF. The popular (liberal) education (Worker´sEducationEssociation/Folk High Schools) is often a neglectedresourceregardingEU-fundedprojects. Through this cooperationit´spossible to carrylargerproject budgets.
Furtheractivitiesduring 2013 Ideas • To stimulate a regional cooperationbetweentrade unions, WEA, Folk High Schools, LO-districs, Trainedprojectleaders • A news letter, 4 times a year • Follow upp meetings with trainedprojectleaders • Marketing the project at the Study Conference at Runö in August.
Training of Project Leaders 2013 The Training of Project Leaders at Runö The aim is to givetrade union projectleadersgoodtools in order to carryoutEU-fundedtrade union projects from idea to application, conducting and evaluation. Three steps: 10 – 12 december 2012 21 – 23 january 2013 11 – 13 march 2013
Training Step 1 Project – leader - training Preceded by havingcommunicated the idea • Project Planning • Aim and objectives with the project • Activity planning • Project organisation • Evaluation Intermediate work to communicate the plan.
Training Step 2 Project – leader – training Preceded by communication of the plan • Financial resources/funds; ESF and Regional funds 2014-2020, direct EU-budget lines • Projekt organisation • Conducting and evaluation – alsocontinuingevaluation • Resources for support, process support • Administrative support Intermediate work about partners, personal resources, activity planning.
Training Step 3 Project – leader - training Preceded by contact work regarding partners etc • How to form applications • How to handledifferencesabout traditions, languagebarriersetc • Elaborations of plans, control, criticism • Planning the applicationitself The result of the course is both to have a trainedprojectleader and to have a project plan.
FurtherTraining 2013 - 2014 The Project LeaderTrainingalso in dec-2013/jan- 2014/marchs -2014 ETUI-courses in 2013(?) and 2014 in 3 steps. Where the 1st step will be conductednationally.
