College Success Campaigns • Three annual statewide campaigns: • PLAN: College GO! Week –– (Fall) • PREPARE: KnowHow2Go –– (Summer) • PAY: Cash for College –– (Winter/Spring) • Guiding principles: • Clear college success focus for each campaign • Specific, practical steps for students at each level • State driven, locally led

College Success Coalitions GOAL: • Create a college-going and completing culture • Build local leadership and outreach capacity • Improve student choices and outcomes OUTCOME: • Active, sustainable coalitions in all 92 counties • Increase college readiness, completion, education attainment rates
College Success Coalitions Current Status: • 51 counties • 1461 organizations • 2155 activities
21st Century Scholars Program • Established in 1990 to increase Hoosier students’ aspirations for and access to higher education • Income-eligible students enroll in 7th or 8th grade • Students who fulfill the Scholar Pledge earn up to four years of paid tuition at an Indiana college
Scholar Success National model for increasing college access: • Student Participation: More than 100,000 Scholars enrolled statewide in middle school through college. • High School Graduation: More than 90% of Scholars graduate from high school (86% for all Indiana students) • College Access: 75% of Scholars enter college directly after high school (64% for all Indiana students)

Scholar Challenges Most Scholars DO NOT complete college: • On-time Completion: 12% of Scholars earn an associate or bachelor’s degree on time. (22% for all Indiana public college students) • College Completion (150% time): Less than a third (30%) of Scholars graduate after three and six years (40% for all Indiana public college students)
New Scholar Support Model • Moving from access to success • Emphasizing student preparation and intervention • Coordinating services rather than direct service
Scholar Success Program Legislative changes: • Raised high school GPA requirement to 2.5 • Refocused program on student preparation (Scholar Success Program)
