New three year Extension initiative • Funded under USDA’s Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program
Comprehensive whole farm management program • Designed for individuals with less than 10 years farming experience • Two year commitment for the producer
Year One • Producers will participate in 10 to 12 face-to-face educational sessions • Could include classroom meetings, on-farm demonstrations, field days and field trips

Legal Risk Government Resources Production Topics Evaluation of Natural Resources Business Plans Leadership Development
Year Two • Producer will be teamed up with a mentor with similar interests
On-Line • Curriculum for farmers is being developed • Producers who do not have the program offered in their county • For those who prefer the flexibility of the on–line alternative
Program Design • County Extension agents/committees design the program curriculum to fit their participants’ needs
