PKP POLSKIE LINIE KOLEJOWE S.A. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe manages the railways. Basic functions and the scope of business of the Company cover the following: • Railways management • rail traffic control • rail lines administration • Maintaining the rail lines ensuring: • efficient and safe transport of passengers and freight • provision of services on a regular and timely basis • fire protection and protection of property within the rail-owned area • meeting of health, sanitary, veterinary, and environmental requirements

Employment Total average annual employment in all Organizational Units in 2006 amounted to 43 372 persons.
Railway network in Poland • Currently, the length of the railway network amounts to 23,500km • PKP PLK S.A. manages approx. 20,500 km of which almost 19,000 km of lines are under operation. Managed infrastructure: including: 17 800 km main railway lines 1 200 km local railway lines 1 500 km railway lines with suspended traffic • Railway lines under operation are subject to different traffic load from 0 to over 200 trains per 24 hrs which has an impact on their importance for PKP PLK S.A.
Managed infrastructure(main elements) • 18,964 km of railway lines (27,548 km of tracks) • 9,268 km of station tracks • 44,261 turnouts • 16,512 rail-road crossings (including 2,962 category A crossings) • 25,470 engineering structures • 7,077 buildings • 11,117 other structures
PKP POLSKIE LINIE KOLEJOWE S.A. The results of implementation of the railway projects planned for 2007-2013 will be as follows: • modernization of 2000 km of lines • implementation of new technical solutions with interoperability principles and gradual activation of ERTMS/ETCS, ERTMS/GSM-R installations • speed increase up to 200 or 160 km/h forpassenger traffic at the basic lines
PKP POLSKIE LINIE KOLEJOWE S.A. Modernization of railway lines will also be conducted under the Operational Programs of 16 Regions, with co-participation of PKP PLK S.A. Implementation of these projects will be financed from the structural funds. The works planned include modernization of lines of great importance to agglomeration traffic. The anticipated costs of these projects will be around EUR 200 million.

Investment plans PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. concerning Euro 2012 organization Modernization will include all together 1200 km of railway lines. Trains speed on the level of 160 km/h with journey comfort on the sections • Warsaw – Gdynia - modernization 349 km of line • Warsaw– Poznań - modernization 123 km of line • Poznań – Wrocław - modernization 162 km of line • Wrocław – Kraków - modernization 203 km of line • Psary – Kraków - modernization 48 km of line • Warsaw– Kielce - modernization177 km of line • Warsaw – Łódź - modernization 129 km of line 15
Reconstruction of Warsaw Gdańska station with connection to platforms and underground passage linking the underground station Dworzec Gdański with PKP Warsaw Gdańska station and to Żoliborz district. Modernization of railway lines no. 19, 507 and 509 with the adjustment to passenger traffic. Performance of direct connections f.ex. Błonie – Warsaw Gdańska – Legionowo or Grodzisk Mazowiecki Warsaw Gdańska – Legionowo. Reconstruction of passenger stop Warsaw Stadion – link with planned underground station. Creation of comfortable transfer junction near National Stadium. Modernization of the Cross City Line– tracks and stations: Warsaw East, Central and West as well as passenger stops: Stadion, Powiśle and Ochota. Modernization of the Warsaw Railway Node 16

Modernization Warsaw – Łódź railway line stage II, sections: Warsaw West – Skierniewice and Łódź Widzew – Łódź Fabryczna Modernization of the railway line Warsaw – Łódź, stage I – on the section Skierniewice – Łódź Widzew is being performed within Sectoral Operational Program Transport for 2004 – 2006 within ”design and built” system. Value – 932 257 000 PLN Stage I – fulfilment period for 2006 - 2008 Lenght of modernized section - 62,8 km Stage II – fulfilment period for2009 - 2012 Lenght of modernized section– around 65,0 km 18
Modernization WARSZAWA - ŁÓDŹ railway linestage I, section: Skierniewice - Łódź Widzew • The following task are being modernized: • stations: Skierniewice, Płyćwia, Rogów, passanger stops, • track with adjustment of the distanse between running lines to 4.0 m, • traction substations, railway crossing, bridges, • footbridge viaducts, ducts, underground passage for pedestrians in Rogów. E30 railway line modernizationsections: Węgliniec- Zgorzelec/state border and Węgliniec – Bielawa Dolna/state border Bridge over Bielawka river, section Węgliniec – Pieńsk, in 10,330 km (adapted to animal migration) UOZ-1 system for animal deterring – will be applied within Natura 2000 areas The system reduces to minimum level the loss of animal population caused by quickly approaching trains allowing the animals to move more freely. 21
Reconstruction and modernization of E30 and C-E30 railway linessection: Opole – Wrocław – Legnica • 31 contracts have been executed on this section. • 95.5 km of railway line have been modernized, including 6 stations and 7 passenger stops passenger stop Dąbrowa Niemodlińka – acoustic screens passenger stop Przedmoście Swięte after its renovation 22
