Headlines • Approximately £72m EU allocation for 2014-2020 (ERDF, ESF, EAFRD) • SupportsStrategic Economic Plan priorities • Investment priorities based on LEP priorities and stakeholder consultation • Project activity to be locally compliant • Multi-partner approach • Awaiting Government feedback
LEP role in European Funding • LEPs responsible for prioritising spend locally • 20% of European Social Fund to tackle social inclusion and combat poverty • GCGP to facilitate proposals for local projects • Public and private sector match funding required • Social inclusion match funding through Big Lottery opt-in model and Civil Society
Funding overview ERDF – Innovation, ICT, SME Competitiveness, Low Carbon Economy ESF – Skills, Employability, Social Inclusion EAFRD – for complementary provision in rural areas
Social Inclusion Funding • £3.46m ESF through BIG - £6.92m total with match • £1.5m ESF through Civil Society - £3m with match • Targeted at those furthest from the labour market, education or training • Locally prioritised and designed • Expectation of significant VCSE engagement • Bidding and delivery mechanism to be agreed • Plus £1.5m (£3m) through CLLD
Outputs and Results • ≈ 5,500 businesses supported • ≈ 200 start-up businesses supported • ≈ 8,000 new jobs created • ≈ 10,000 participants in skills and training • ≈ 5,000 young people supported
