What ıs a mıcroscope? A microscope is a scientific instrument which magnifies objects that are too small to be seen by the naked eye. Microscopes come in two varieties - electron microscope (EM) and light microscope (L.M). It uses combination of magnifying lenses with a rotator that can be used to adjust the item view option.
Hıstory of mıcroscope • Pre-1600: In the 11th century, the Arab Alhazan described the use and characteristics of glass lenses. Two hundred years later, the English natural philosopher Roger Bacon was familiar with lenses. Eyeglasses, however, were not invented until the late 1200s. • 1600s: In 1608 the telescope was invented, with Galileo improving upon it with his own models. Around 1600, the microscope was invented, possibly by Hans and Zacharias Jansen. Due to poor lens quality, the early compound microscopes (ones that used two lenses) could only magnify an object up to 20 or 30 times its normal size.
Hıstory of mıcroscope • 1700-1800s: Not much change in the basic microscope design occurred, but better lenses were crafted (using purer glass and different shapes) to solve problems like color distortion and poor image resolution. In the late 1800s, Ernst Abbe discovered that oil-immersion lenses prevented light distortion at highest magnification power. These are still used today on 1000x-objective microscopes. • 1900s till now: In 1931, a pair of German scientists invented the electron microscope. This kind of microscope directs a beam of speeded-up electrons at a cell sample; as the electrons are absorbed or scattered by different parts of the cell, they form an image that can be captured by an electron-sensitive photo plate. This model enables scientists to view extremely small parts, magnified as much as one million times. (Check out these electron microscope images to see what it looks like.) The only drawback is that living cells can’t be observed with electron microscopes. However, compound microscopes are being improved with digital and other new technology, making microscopy better for everyone from kids to lab microbiologists.
Whoınventedıt? The first compound microscope was made in 1590 in The Netherlands. Hans Lippershey, Sacharias Jansen, and Hans Jenssen, all eyeglass makers, have each been given credit for the invention. Apparently working independently but at the same time, they developed almost identical concepts.

What ıs an electronmıcroscope? An electron microscope is a type of microscope that uses electrons rather than photons* for imaging. Because electrons have a much smaller wavelength than photons, they provide much greater magnification. *A photon is a type of elementary particle that forms the basic unit of electromagnetic radiation, which includes radio waves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma rays.
What ıs a lıghtmıcroscope? A light microscope, also called an optical microscope, is an instrument to observe small objects using visible light and lenses.The device can be used to view living or dead samples and can maximize these samples up to one thousand times (1,000x) their actual size. Light microscopes include almost all compound and stereo microscopes.
WHAT IS A USB COMPUTER MICROSCOPE? • A USB microscope is a low-powered digital microscope which connects to a computer, normally via a USB port. In essence, USB microscopes are a webcam with a high-powered macro lens and generally do not use transmitted light, but rely on incident light from in-built LEDs lights situated next to the lens. The light reflected from the sample then enters the camera lens. However, the camera is usually sensitive enough not to need additional lighting. As the camera attaches directly to the USB port of a computer, eyepieces are not required and the images are shown directly on the monitor.
WHAT IS A DIGITAL MICROSCOPE? A digital microscope is a variation of a traditional optical microscope that uses optics and a digitalcamera to output an image to a monitor, sometimes by means of software running on a computer.For information about stereo microscopes with a digital camera in research and development, see optical microscope.A digital microscope is a microscope that contains a tiny digital camera (CMOS) and is connected to a computer. The images seen through the microscope's eyepiece can be shown on the computer's monitor and saved on the hard drive as an image (in various formats) or as video, or timelapse video.
