There are many places to visit in Egypt. While the pyramids and pharaonic temples of Egypt awaken the explorer within each visitor, the beaches, both on the Mediterranean coast, and on the coast of the Red Sea, are today the biggest places to visit in Egypt. In this list, we suggest 5 most important places to visit in Egypt. Pyramids of Giza This is the most famous of all the places to visit in Egypt. Located on the outskirts of Cairo, the Giza pyramids are the symbol of Egypt. The pyramids were built along three generations of pharaohs: King Cheops, his second son Kephren and his grandson of Chephren. The Great Sphinx dates from the reign of Kephren. Cairo
Being the Capital, it is an important place to visit in Egypt. Located south of the Nile Delta, the capital of Egypt, Cairo, is the largest city in the Middle East / Africa. The entrance door for a visit to the pyramids of Giza, Cairo, is everything but a quiet city: the traffic is chaotic. However, by the south gate of Bab Zuweila, there is an Islamic Cairo, full of markets, which is worth discovering. In the famous Egyptian Museum, located in Tahrir Square, you will be able to see closely the treasure of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, and various artifacts and mummies of Ancient Egypt. White Desert White desert has secured third place in our list of top 5 places to visit in Egypt. The white desert is an eccentric natural attraction in the vicinity of the Farafra depression. The color between white and cream comes from the impressive geological formations of chalk, molded by the erosive action of the wind. This natural landscape that looks more like the setting of a science fiction movie is a good counterpoint for those who come to visit the numerous temples and pyramids of Egypt. Aswan The fourth position in our list of top 5 places to visit in Egypt is Aswan. Located north of Lake Nasser, Aswan is the southernmost city in Egypt and the place where the Nile is most imposing. The city is a good base to visit several places of interest: The Elephantine island, with the colorful streets of the Nubian villages, and the various temples – the temple of Philae on the island of Agilkia, the temple of Ramses II in Abu Simbel, the temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu, halfway between Aswan and Luxor. The city itself is a privileged place to see life pass along the Nile River. Alexandria Located on the Mediterranean coast, Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt, and attractive of all the places to visit in Egypt. Founded in 331 a.c. by Alexander the Great, the city is situated at the crossroads between two worlds. However, due to constant wars, very little of the ancient city survived to this day. Even so, it is worth a visit to the various attractions, such as the Citadel of Qaitbay, the pillar of Pompey and the Roman amphitheater. Do not forget to visit the Corniche promenade, or to shop in the famous places of the city. So, which place are you going to visit first?
