WIG Scope Draft proposal (The wording is by no means the final proposal) • To be an integral part in the production of a generically applicable interworking standard for WWAN and other public networks. The standard is to be applicable for IEEE 802.11 family, MMAC HiSWAN family, and ETSI HiperLAN/2 • To be the point of resolution for ETSI, IEEE and MMAC on issues related to interworking with WWAN and other public networks. • To be the single point of contact for the above mentioned WLAN standards on questions related to interworking with WWAN and other public networks. Rules of the Group • Meeting Rules • Gentlemen’s agreement (Achieve consensus) • Approval Rules • Approvals should be achieved at the separate standardisation groups. • All approved items are distributed to other participating groups. • IPR Rules • All docs will be subject to the existing IPR in all Standards Organizations. • (e.g. an IPR Claim in WIG will be necessary to make the claim to IEEE, ETSI, and MMAC) Erwin Noble, Philips

  10. Internal Interfaces • How to exchange documents? • All organizations must have access to each others documents. (This is possible today) • Lists of available and existing docs needs to be announced on email. • How to communicate internally? • Necessary to deploy a joint email reflector • ETSI volunteers to host this? External Interface • How to communicate with other bodies? • The group needs a mandate given from each separate Standards Body to approve and issue statements on behalf of itself at any given time depending on approval through correspondence. • on the joint email reflector • Announcement must be made 5 working days prior to approval.   12. Planning of Work Item for WIG • It will be necessary for the group to identify areas that needs to be resolved with an associated timeline. • Contributions are strongly encouraged from all participants. Erwin Noble, Philips

Production of Official Statements • It must be the intention of the group to inform anybody, that may be interested in the work performed by WIG, that the establishment of this has taken place. • The bodies that it are necessary to inform are: • 3GPP • 3GPP2 • Wi-Fi Alliance • WISPr • H2GF • GSM Association • PASS ONE Erwin Noble, Philips

Issues to be resolved prior to WIG#1 • Meeting sessions • Where, When and how Long • First time: Main session on Sunday, possibly a short session later in order to be able to resolve stuff offline. Total amount of time: 8 hours. • Meeting Fee? ,Meeting Registration? • IEEE regular registration • Who can participate? • Everybody • How are the organisations invited? • On email regularly • First time: Invitation to MMAC & ETSI members sent from IEEE onto the ETSI Interworking reflector (exploder) • AP:Erwin • Which group within IEEE802.11 holds WIG? • WNG (definitely for the first time) • Pre WIG teleconference • AP: Thomas to organise Erwin Noble, Philips
