  2. Key Issue Ukraine has unique, proven aerospace related technologies – in enterprises and research institutes -- but limited capacity to commercialize these technologies. Technology can be used in numerous sectors: • Fuel and energy complex • Agroindustrial complex • Mechanical engineering • Telecommunications • Medical apparatus and equipment • Transportation

  3. Main Opportunities • Transfer existing technology to foreign public and private organizations • Develop new technologies for foreign public and private organizations

  4. Main Challenges • Lack of technology commercialization experience • Absence of commercialization infrastructure • Unclear IPR

  5. Main Challenges (continued) • Lack of funds to support technology commercialization • Lack of information about global demand for technology and capability of existing technologies, enterprises and research institutes • Lack of domestic demand for aerospace technologies

  6. Objective of the intervention • Goal: Preserve and rebuild aerospace capabilities by helping existing aerospace enterprises and research institutes learn how to work in a market economy and establish links with global technology markets • Key target groups: NSAU, aerospace enterprises, their suppliers, and related enterprises and institutes in the Ukrainian high tech sector, aerospace research institutes, NASA, ESA, Boeing, Airbus, etc.

NSAU proposals to the WB Taking into consideration that: • There is a good history of NSAU-WB cooperation in hi-tech sphere ( Sea Launch project) • Ukrainian space industry is one of the most developed Ukrainian hi-tech sectors To discuss the possibility to start the pilot project for Ukrainian hi-tech sector - “Implementing market reforms in the Ukrainian hi-techsector and Innovation Commercialization”

  8. NSAU proposals to the WB (continued) The main parts of possible project: • Establish Centers of Excellence • Technology Commercialization Center (Business Incubator) • Resolve IPR issues • Establish Ukrainian Hi-Tech Fund with private investors – a public private partnership

NSAU proposals to the WB (continued) • Preparation and implementation of 2-3 technology commercialization projects with participation of space industry institutes and enterprises and their foreign partners • Develop a Technology Commercialization Portal and data base similar to what Mr. Nastas proposed • Arranging workshops, conferences, training etc. devoted to technology commercialization • Support the establishment of spin-off hi-tech companies
