  8. GREATER NOIDA At a glance • Established in 1991 • Notified area of 36,000 Ha • 5,000 Ha already urbanized • Green and Clean environment • Greater Noida city was planned as a world class city and accordingly the infrastructure, beautiful roads etc were planned.

  9. Population With an expected population of 7 lakhs up to 2011 and 12 lakhs up to 2021, Greater Noida City has been designed for planned growth to ensure supply will always exceed demand.

  10. GREATER NOIDAUSP…as claimed… • Infrastructure – lot of planning has been done • Is the golden chance of developing an ultramodern city being wasted ?

  11. GREATER NOIDANo shortage of plans… • Fast growing city • Plans alone will not do… has to be followed up with sincere action • Needs an approach which is more pro active and citizen friendly

We the people of Greater Noida says.. • 2010 was definitely not secure for Greater Noida . • Recent incident of killing of a woman by Chain snatchers has created panic in Greater Noida. • Greater Noida Colleges students are very violent.. • Traffic rules are not being followed there is no traffic management ..

  13. GREATER NOIDA Police Stations • Presently 4 Stations – Greater NOIDA, Kasna, Surajpur and Dhankore • None of the urban residential sectors come under the station named after the city • They come under Kasna Police station which is not in Kasna but in Beta II !

  14. Security issues… • Police Station in Beta – 2 is known as P.S. Kasna and the • Kasna is known as P.S. Gr. Noida. • Names to be interchanged…no action…despite many meetings • Hardly any increase in police personnel with increase in population

  15. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Security • Ineffective and Untrained Private Security Guards • Patrolling is only for the name sake • Police visibility is poor • SHOs transfers are frequent • Policing not at all adequate…

For a safe and secure neighborhood, Greater Noida has taken several initiatives: • Private Security has been provided by the Greater Noida Authorities.Reality ..This has been withdrawn long back • Round the clock patrolling...How many of you agree?

  18. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Crime • Auto Lifting from markets, sectors and even from roads • Snatching of bags, mobiles etc • Thefts happening in houses, mainly locked ones • only possible deterrent is deploying more police on the streets and market areas

  19. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Security • Nights are scary on the roads in the absence of enough Patrolling by Police Parties • Factors making life vulnerable • Absence of enough Police Patrol • Non functional street lights • Adequate and proper speed brakers

  20. In a nutshell much to be desired… • The expectations from the Greater Noida Police are truly enormous. At the same time, it has to be acknowledged that the delivery of service by the police in Greater Noida leaves much to be desired.

  21. suggestions • Patrolling on Express highway should be more efficient. .especially in nights • Vehicles crossing the central verge along Express way to be punished • Giving fixed tenure to Station Officers • More Police-Citizen interactions

Suggestions:Use technology… • The Role of New Age Technologies in Policing • Gautam Budh Nagar Police ought to invest on Homeland Security, by upgrading the capabilities of its police forces, for unhindered economic growth and the security of its citizens. The induction of hitech equipment and technology with trained human intervention, can provide protection and minimise damage.

  23. Suggestions • zoom cameras…techno advances. • help in house security…people need to install security gadgets..recording procedure…devices....

  24. suggestions… • Patrolling to be improved, specially during nights • Accessing call centre via toll free lines from anywhere should be possible • Call centre should register public complaints

  25. Suggestions: People friendly policing • Easy accessibility and availability of officers to public. •  Predominantly Women Officers should manage police stations in selected pockets

  26. Suggestions • Revamping and strengthening of Beat System and Mobile Patrolling to make police available virtually at door step. • Emphasis on prevention and detection of crime at Police Station level.

  27. Noida Police? • Why not Gautam Budh Nagar Police ..and Where is Greater Noida Police?

  28. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Traffic • No check on traffic violations • Driving on the service roads is mostly in the wrong direction • No control on Speed , especially on the service roads

  29. Traffic Management: • Traffic Management should remain a priority area of policing to bring perceptible change in flow of traffic and reduction in travel time.
