  1. Chapter 3

  2. Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" (Gen 3:1) The great dragon was hurled down-- that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. (Rev 12:9) accuser, opposer, adversary slander When he (the devil) lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)

  3. "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."(Gen 3:4-5) • Jesus overcame Satan: • Man lives on God’s words. • Do not put God to the test. • Worship God and serve him only. • Satan’s scheme: • Make Eve doubt of God’s words. • Make Eve doubt of God’s motive. • Arouse Eve’s ambition.

  4. Fruits of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil Good for food Pleasing to the eye Desirable for gaining wisdom ? Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world-- the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-- comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (I Jn 2:15-17)
