  7. “Hands on” Health Care Goals • Provide the best PT care that’s available in the area • Use medical model • Treat patients like family • Evaluates patients for accuracy, efficiency, & progress; not speed

  9. Patients • Morning Age Group: 40-60 • Afternoon Age Group: 12-25 • Dealing with unfriendly patients • Assertive but not aggressive • Put yourself in their shoes: EMPATHY • Objective Findings: systematic • Treat them with respect • Have an open mind

Dr. Walters’ Words of Wisdom • You’re always learning • “We don’t all know what we think we know” • Lots of experience (if he hadn’t of had all of his experience, he said he would not be where he is today. He didn’t have the best GPA in the world, letters of Rec., a lot of volunteering) • There are PTs that focus on getting patients in and out and there are those who spend times and work the patients • Business mills vs. Personal Care

  12. Ms. Quiros’ Words of Wisdom • Make sure you observe different places before you decide where you want to work • Don’t get discouraged by the amount of hours you have to put in during graduate school
