  2. The Main Characters The main characters are: • Will • Horace • Halt • Sir Rodney • Baron Arald • Jenny • George • Alyss • Gilan

  3. The Setting • The story takes place in Kingdom Araluen. • The time is 643 A.D.

  4. Problem • Halt and Will’s goal is to kill the Kalkara. Here is a description of the Kalkara. They look like a gorilla and bear mixed together, and are hunchbacked and have long arms. They also have long talons that go down to theirknees. If you look into their eyes, you’re paralyzed.

  5. Summary • Beginning: Will is chosen to be Halt’s apprentice. • Middle: Will and Horace become friends after Will saves Horace. Halt and Will go to the Ranger Gathering, and meet Gilan. • End: Will, Halt, and Gilan get news that the Kalkara have entered Araluen. Their mission is to kill the Kalkara.
