New L3Vision™ day/night vision capability Dr. Cliff Weatherup Programme Manager L3Vision e2v technologies http://l3vision.e2v.com
The L3Vision™ digital L3C95EIA/CCIR 768x576 • The L3C95 is fitted with e2v’s latest EMCCD sensor • Automatic control manages performance at all light levels • Analogue and digital USB2.0 outputs • DSP image enhancement gives outstanding low light performance © e2v technologies limited
Light Levels • Light levels are described in terms of scene illumination • Bright daylight is in the region of 105 –106 lux • Quarter moon has a scene illumination of 10-2 lux • Starlight gives a scene illumination of 10-3 lux • L3C95 performance from daylight to below starlight is shown in the following video clip © e2v technologies limited

Technology Comparison • The next clip compares the L3C95 with three low light technologies • The previous generation L3C65 EMCCD camera • The benchmark Gen3 intensifier (Omni IV) in an ICCD camera • The benchmark Sony EX view sensor widely used in CCTV • The L3C95 is significantly better than the previous generation • The L3C95 is better than the Gen3 Omni IV at all light levels • The L3C95 and the Sony CCD are equivalent in daylight but the Sony is unusable below quarter moon © e2v technologies limited
