How long does it take to make a pearl? • It usually takes 2-3 years for a pearl to cultivate , but a lot of pollution has decreased the number of pearls greatly so pearls are cultivated through man-made process.
What are fresh water pearls? • Pearls are deposits of calcium carbonate called nacre. Pearl is not a mineral because it does not have a distinctive crystal structure and is formed by the action of a living thing.
Where were fresh water pearls found? • Pearls were found in 1986 along the Mississippi and Tennessee River valleys.
How do pearls form? Pearls form around irritants(usually sand grains) in mussels, oysters, and clams.
