Qt. 4 Vocabulary. Alliteration –The repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of several words. Climax-The high point or most exciting point in a story. Conflict-The struggle faced by the main character. Exposition- The first part of a typical story’s plot.

Alliteration –The repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of several words.
Falling Action-The stage in the plot when the story begins to draw to a close.
Mood-the feeling or atmosphere that a writer creates for the reader.
Plot-the sequence of events that make up the action of a story.
1st person point of view-the vantage point from which a story is told using the pronouns I, me, us and we outside of the quotations.
3rd person omniscient- the vantage point from which a story is told using the pronouns she, he, and they outside of the quotations. Knows all.
rhyme-the repetition of the same sounds at the end of the words.
Rising action- the stage in the plot that develops the struggle.
Simile- a comparison of two things essentially unlike using the words like and as. She is as sharp as a tack.
Stanza- a group of two or more lines that form a unit in a poem.
